MILLITARY
COLLEGIATE SCHOOL KHULNA (MCSK)
1. MCSK is situated
approximately 6.5 km North West of Jahanabad Cantonment, Khulna and
about 4.5 km South West from Phultala Upazilla. This is an English
medium school & college for the boys only. MCSP started its journey
on 05 January 2002 with 50 students in class VIII and presently 340
students are studying from class VI to XII. Now the entry point in MCSP
for the students is Class VI.

MCSK is a fully residential institution, which is administered by
Bangladesh Army and directly supervised by Area Commander Jessore Area.
The institution follows the syllabus of Secondary and Higher Secondary
Education Board, Jessore. The national curriculum in English version is
followed here. The curricula is so designed that each student is groomed
as a good all rounder in the fields of education, games and sports with
leadership skills. The institution accepts students from all over the
country.
3. The authorities of
MCSK always endeavor to impart lessons to the students in the best
possible manner. As such, the teacher-student ratio is 1:13. Each class
consists of 60 students divided into 2 sections.
4. The Principal is a Colonel from
Bangladesh Army and other faculty members are a mix of experienced civil
teachers. An Adjutant and an Admin Officer of the rank of Captain from
Bangladesh Army are also appointed here for the smooth functioning of
the institution.

To fulfill the mission, MCSK follows the under mentioned principles:
a. Offers a set of modern program / curricula to meet the needs of
the students coming from different
backgrounds.
b. Employs qualified, trained and
experienced instructors/ teachers to impart effective lessons on
relevant
subject.
c. Students are selected through tests, who have the potential to
cope up with the program/ curricula of
MCSK.
d. Imparts lessons, by using modern training aid / equipment and
demonstration to facilitate the students
in using their senses i.e.; sight, hearing, touch,
taste and smell for better assimilation.
e. Creates an
environment conducive to learning English language, proper discipline,
developing leadership
traits, exploring talents and inculcating sincerity, honesty,
patriotism, self-dignity and progressiveness in an
individual.

6. The curricula of the Secondary and
Higher Secondary Education Board, Jessore are being followed for
imparting lessons on academic subjects. In addition, Co-curricular
activities are also designed for the students so that they can acquire
knowledge about historical background of our nation, indigenous and rich
cultural heritage.
Specialties in Imparting Education

Following are the specialties of MCSK in imparting education:
a. Following the curricula of Secondary & Higher Secondary
Education Board, Jessore.
b. Providing inter-active
teaching facilities through CD, Video etc.
c.
Providing training for handling Computers.
d.
Extensive training is imparted on extempore speech, debate, group
discussion etc.
e. Prevailing environment for speaking
English except in Bangla class.
f. English Language
Lab facilities during 1st three months once students join class VI.
g. English Books, Magazines, News Papers etc. are made available
for the students.
h. Provision of visiting different
types of organization and institutions as part of the education visit
to
enhance knowledge on different subjects.
j. Students are divided into teams and monitored by a Team
Observer. A teacher known as Team
Observer (TO)
supervises a team comprising of 10 students.
k.
Providing recreational facilities by showing educative and interesting
movies.
q. Providing facility of science club, arts
& painting club, wall magazine club, cultural club and literature
club.
r. Providing full time assistance of the
faculty members.
s. Providing intensive care for the
weak and inattentive students in the form of coaching class in the
afternoon.
Academic Council

The college 'Academic Council' is composed of senior members of the
faculties headed by the Principal. It is responsible for formulating and
devising educational policies and programs. The council also observes
and oversees the 'guidance and counseling' by the Team Observers.
Besides, it holds assessment conference for the students after each term
end examination.

9. Presently MCSK is having three
beautifully designed, most modern and newly constructed separate
dormitories for the students namely "Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali (R), House",
"Hazrat Shah Jalal (R), House", "Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R), House". The
institution will have four houses to accommodate 420 students in course
of time. Two teachers who reside with the students directly supervise
each house.
Academic Performance in Jessore Board
10. MCSK is moving forward with a
glorious result as under:
a. 1st batch of MCSK
appeared SSC examination in 2005. Out of 50 students in science group 9
got A+
and rest 41got A
grading.
b. 2nd batch in 2006 out of 44 students in
science group 15 got A+, 28 got A and one got A- grading.
In the same year, MCSK secured
third position in Jessore board basing on the SSC result.
c. 3rd batch appeared SSC examination with 39 students. Amongst
them, 21 students were in science
group and 18 were in commerce group. Out of 39 students 23 got A+ rest
all got A grading.
d. 1st batch of MCSK appeared HSC
examination in 2007 with 21 students. All of them successfully
passed in the exam. Out of 21
students two got A+, 17 got A and two got A- grading.

Conclusions

Within very short time these all were the achievements of the newly born
institution in this region. This is the first English medium school of
its kind in the Jessore Board. The infrastructural development is in
progress for the overall improvement. Under the close supervision of the
Area Commander, Jessore and with the relentless efforts of all the
members of MCSK including the military personals, the institution will
occupy its position in the educational arena of our country in the days
ahead.
